Tee-RRRR-You-Ess-Tee

Trust. This word conjures up some pretty nasty images in our minds. When we think of this word, we immediately think of all the times that trust has been broken in our lives: the girlfriend/boyfriend or husband/wife who betrayed you (I know I have about a certain girlfriend): the co-worker who let you down or sold you out for their own benefit: children who have let you down with decisions they have made. We hardly ever think of the good in the word trust. Trust, or lack there of, can be a useful tool in the arsenal of Satan to tear us away from our relationship with God. We MUST see past this ruse and see that trust in our God is the greatest definition of the word.

In John 14, Jesus is comforting his disciples after he has told them about his betrayal and death. He says to them (v. 1, NIV), "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me." Right from the lips of our Savior. He is telling us that the only way to be completely and utterly in tune with Him is to trust in Him. Our faith is our trust, but not the only trust. How do we trust in God and Jesus Christ?

Tomorrow I will introduce the 12 step program for restoring/nurturing your trust in Christ (okay, so it may not be a full 12 steps).
