The Path to Heaven

"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him." John 3:36

The path to heaven is very simple........or is it?  Jesus even said himself that the only way to the Father is through his Son.  But let's dissect this verse.

"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life;"  There is no doubt in my mind that this is a true statement.  We MUST believe that Jesus died for our sins and rose again on the third day or our faith is baseless and God is not at all powerful.

Now for the second part of this verse: "......whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him."  Faith is the first and foremost requirement, but obedience to God goes hand in hand with believing. There is no faith without obedience because our obedience to God's calling means we are listening and obeying. When we pick and choose what we are going to do for God, instead of truly listening and obeying, then we are making a grave mistake in our eternal life.

Obedience means belief.  Faith without obedience is not faith.  Just believing that Christ is the one and only Son of God who died for our sins and rose back to life is the easy way out.  I can believe I am a pilot and can fly all day long, but if I don't go fly, then I'm not really a pilot.

Think about it.
