Resistance is Futile

Who has heard of Ultimate Fighting Championship? If not, it is a mixed martial arts form of fighting that has blossomed in the US over the past few years. The goal is to knockout your opponent just like boxing, or get him to submit. Submission is attained when your opponent taps out and gives in. Have we tapped out for Christ?

The book of Acts chronicles many of the fledgling steps the Christian church and its founding disciples took to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. In Acts chapter 7, Stephen is talking to the Sanhedrin about their holy hypocracy. Acts 7:51 says: "You stiff-necked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are just like your fathers: You always resist the Holy Spirit!"

Do we resist the Holy Spirit? Do we talk a good game, yet go out and stay mum about our faith? It's time for us to stop being "stiff-necked people with uncircumcised hearts and ears." (Information note: circumcision was an outward symbol of belief in and submission to God, held close by the Jewish religion).

It's time to "circumcise" our hearts for Christ and go out and talk the game we do on Sundays. Everyday of the week is the day Christ has made for us. We must submit to the Holy Spirit and take each opportunity we have to spread Christ's message of eternal life with Him.

In the armbar for Christ,
Jesus Freak Out!
